What is The Welcoming Table all about?
When it comes to hosting, I want to help you move past all of these obstacles, forgetting about perfection and focusing on building relationships, one meal at a time. With recipes and posts about friendship, food, and fun, I help make hospitality simple and stress-free.
I am not a perfect hostess. I love to cook, but I don't have fancy dinner plates or cloth napkins. I don't know how to pair wine with the right foods. Sometimes, I try new recipes, and they flop. My kitchen is tiny and cramped, and a pile of school papers perpetually sits on my counter. My family's lived in our house for eight years, and we still have several blank walls without decorations. With four kids, our house is hardly ever completely clean.
But you know what?
We invite people over anyway.
Through meals at our table, we've gotten to know neighbors, coworkers, the families of our kids' friends, and church friends. We tell stories, ask questions, listen, and laugh. At the beginning of the night, these people start as dinner guests. By the time they walk out the door, they've become friends. That's what it means to have a Welcoming Table.
More About Sandi
I'm a wife and mom of four kids ages 18, 16, 14, and 8. I spend my days working around the house and connecting with friends, my afternoons being a chauffeur, and my evenings cooking dinner and hanging out with my family. Three of my biggest passions in life are building friendships, traveling, and cooking. I've been a guest at friends' tables from France to Togo, West Africa, and I love to explore the world through its cuisines. I'm also a freelance writer and copy editor.
