Peel carrots and cut into strips.
Add oil to the skillet and saute carrots for 3-4 minutes on medium high heat.
Add sugar, salt, and water over carrots and cover. Cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes (or until tender).
Take the lid off and continue cooking until water evaporates.
